The European Union will provide Finland with 32 million euros to buy drone detection and countermeasure systems for the Finnish Border Guard, Yle reports, citing the Ministry of the Interior.

The systems are intended to improve the Border Guard’s ability to monitor drones along Finland’s eastern border and in the Gulf of Finland, and to lay the groundwork for countering them. The funding was confirmed in October, and most purchases are planned for 2027 to 2029.

The Border Guard received a separate 44 million euros in June for procurement to develop its ability to counter drones.
