Denmark’s land registration system received 17.2 million queries over a few days, far above its usual level, DR reported, citing the Danish Court Administration.
The queries were made through the part of the digital system accessible to anyone without logging in with MitID or another form of identification. The system normally receives fewer than two million queries a week.
The Court Administration has introduced new measures. It said the queries were not unlawful in themselves, but it could not rule out that information had been obtained that might make attempts at contact fraud more convincing.
The activity caused brief operational disruptions. The system provides access to limited information about real estate, cooperative housing and vehicles. The Court Administration said only information publicly available without a MitID login had been retrieved.
