Brimil patrol ship will remain unavailable for 14 more days

The patrol ship Brimil will not be ready for about another 14 days, despite plans for it to return to service tomorrow, KVF reports.

Jóhan Simonsen, acting director of VØRN, said estimates for completing the work had been too optimistic. Brimil has been out of service since the summer for extensive maintenance and repairs.

Since 19 August, neither Brimil nor the patrol ship Tjaldrið has been available. Tjaldrið developed an engine fault and is not expected to return to service until well into November.

Simonsen said he was concerned that both patrol ships were out of service at the same time.
