Knutson warns stalled government talks could erode trust

Swedish political commentator Mats Knutson warns that the government formation process risks being seen as political theatre, in an analysis published by SVT. He says the responsibility rests heavily on Social Democratic leader Magdalena Andersson, as well as the Left Party and Centre Party, whose incompatible demands are blocking a red-green government.

Knutson argues that a drawn-out parliamentary process this autumn, including prime minister votes that are already likely to fail, could damage public confidence not only in the parties involved but also in the political system as a whole.
