Iceland’s Food and Veterinary Authority has warned consumers not to eat a Timur berry spice after salmonella was detected in the product, mbl.is reported. The company Lifa ehf. has recalled it in consultation with the Reykjavík Health Inspectorate.

The recall covers Medelys Timur berry (Zanthoxylum armatum), also labelled Baie De Timur Nepal. The product has a best-before date of 5 May 2030, comes in 500-gram packs and was produced in Nepal.

It was distributed by Lifa ehf. and sold at Kokka, both at Laugavegur 47 in Reykjavík. Consumers who bought the spice should not eat it and should either dispose of it or return it to the store.
