Coast Guard warns of high waves as deep low approaches

A very deep, intense low-pressure system is approaching, with severe weather forecast across most of the country tomorrow. Storm warnings are in force for most marine forecast areas, and strong winds could bring significant waves, with high waves expected in some areas.

Pressure is unusually low, which could push sea levels above tide forecasts. With wind and waves coming onshore, water could wash over piers and reach low-lying stretches of coast, the Coast Guard said in a Facebook post.
