The Hospital Service must save just over five million kroner next year, and the cuts will affect patients, its chief executive Per Busk told KVF.

The savings are included in the proposed 2027 budget. Busk is also director of Landssjúkrahúsið, the National Hospital.

This will be the third consecutive year of savings at the National Hospital. It was required to save 7.4 million kroner last year and 7.7 million this year. The proposed budget for 2027 calls for savings of five million kroner.
