Delayed deliveries of influenza vaccines to Sweden and much of Europe will leave supplies limited in several regions when annual vaccinations begin on November 2, SVT reports, citing a statement from Region Skåne.
Region Skåne expects to have enough doses for everyone aged 80 and over during the first two weeks. It will probably also be able to begin vaccinating people aged 75 and over, the region’s vaccine coordinator, Anna Hlebowicz, said.
Supply is expected to improve in the second half of November. However, patient-facing staff in the region are not expected to receive their vaccinations until December or January.
