Milla Madetoja returns to TV after recovering from leukemia

Yle news presenter Milla Madetoja is returning to television after a long sick leave, Yle reports. She will appear on the Yle News Sunday programme, where Ilkka Lahti will interview her.
Madetoja was diagnosed with acute leukemia, a serious blood cancer, in February 2025. She immediately went on sick leave and began intensive chemotherapy. She also received a stem cell transplant.
In the programme, Madetoja says she has recovered. “I’m happy to say that the disease was eliminated from me and has not returned,” she says.
She has gradually been able to return to work during September. Going forward, she will present Yle News Sunday alongside Anna Lehmusvesi and Ilkka Lahti.
