A fire at a signal relay hut on Funen disrupted train services across the country on Friday, leaving commuter Clara Danielsen two hours late for work, DR reports.

Danielsen travels daily by train between Tommerup and Odense. She told DR she had to take a bus to another town and continue to work from there because no replacement buses were running in the morning.

She relies on regional trains between Odense and Fredericia because she does not have a driving licence. Train cancellations mean she will have to use replacement buses for an unknown period.

The fire damaged a relay hut that controls signals near Aarup Station on western Funen. Banedanmark said it had no forecast for when normal train services would resume and warned that delays and cancellations would continue for a long time.

Passengers travelling between Jutland, Funen and Zealand can continue their journeys on some of the other trains running, DSB said. DSB staff are available in Odense and Fredericia to assist passengers.
