A new esports course has helped 19-year-old Rawan Al-Senyani regain her interest in learning and plan for the future, DR reports. She attends FGU Slagelse, a preparatory education programme for young people under 25 who are not ready to start a youth education programme.

Rawan previously studied on another course, where she did not feel challenged. Since moving to the esports line, she says she has found a stronger sense of community.

The course, which began in February, involves more than playing Counter-Strike. Students review their matches and discuss whether their tactics worked. The programme also aims to improve their communication and teach them to accept feedback on their performance.

FGU Slagelse head Morten Løvenborg says several students have moved on to further education or work. The school recently held a seminar about the course with Aalborg University and Esport Danmark, after positive early results.

For Rawan, the social environment has helped her maintain 100 per cent attendance in recent months. She plans to begin training as a pedagogical assistant next year.
