Hellisheiði closes westbound for road repairs

The Hellisheiði mountain pass will be closed to westbound traffic toward Reykjavik from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday for asphalt repairs, mbl.is reports. Drivers will be diverted via Þrengslavegur and are asked to drive carefully and follow road signs.

Work is also scheduled on Reykjanesbraut between Kaplakriki and Kauptún from 8 p.m. Friday until 4 p.m. Saturday. Left turns will be prohibited at the junction with Álftanesvegur, while traffic will be routed alongside the work area, according to the Icelandic Road and Coastal Administration.
