A video of children jumping into a muddy puddle at a daycare on Fyn has been viewed more than 20 million times on social media, DR reports.

The clip shows children from Tinghøj Nursery and Daycare, dressed in colourful rainwear, taking turns to jump from a ramp made of milk crates into the puddle as their classmates cheer. An educator stands by to help.

Filmed during an ordinary day at the daycare in November 2023, the video has received more than six million views on Facebook and 14.6 million on Instagram. It was shared by influencer Anders Hemmingsen. By June this year, it had been viewed 1.5 million times.

Educator Kasper Jensen said the response had taken staff by surprise. The video was shared to show everyday play and activities, not in an attempt to create a viral hit, he said.

Child physiotherapist Maria Schultz Appelt said jumping and landing can help children develop coordination, timing and body awareness. She said children need opportunities to test their physical abilities and that movement and sensory experiences are more important than keeping clothes clean.

The daycare also shared a video in July showing children sliding down a hill on a homemade slide made from a tarp covered in water and soap. That clip has been viewed 37,000 times.
