A revised route for a planned high-voltage power line means Mette and Brian Breitenstein will not have to give up their home, DR reports. The couple’s rural property in Tureby, north of Haslev, had been in the path of the proposed 44-metre pylons.

State-owned energy company Energinet presented its final proposal at a public meeting in Faxe Municipality. It includes three major changes, among them moving the line near Sonnerup and Algestrup from the eastern to the western side of the South Motorway.

“We bought our house because this was where we were going to live for the rest of our lives. The past few months have been very stressful,” Brian Breitenstein said. His wife, Mette, said they felt their objections had been heard.

Residents have debated the pylons since June 2025. Energinet department head Christoffer Lilleholt said the company received about 250 suggested changes after a public meeting before the summer. It reviewed them over the summer and made numerous smaller adjustments as well as three larger route changes.

The proposal also maintains plans to bury the cables from East Lolland to Vordingborg, while burying them only in some places on the final stretch towards Køge. Energinet has said burying more of the route would cost too much and affect the quality of the electricity.

The route is still a proposal. Two environmental assessments are due to be put out for consultation, with both consultations planned for 2027. Lilleholt said some residents will still lose their homes and that Energinet will continue meeting with them to explain the process and their options.
