FDM and the Council for Safe Traffic are urging drivers to get ready for winter tyres, with the season potentially starting in three to four weeks. DR reports that the organisations have launched a campaign reminding motorists that it is time to plan the change.

Tom Vestersø Larsen, a technical consultant at FDM, said drivers should book ahead because tyre centres are typically under heavy pressure when the weather turns cold. Those who wait until snow is forecast may face long delays, he said.

Ib Christoffersen, from Odense, said he had switched to all-season tyres after years of using winter tyres. Changing tyres several times a year had become too much hassle, he said, particularly because his mechanic lived far away and he was not comfortable changing them himself. He also felt the changes were not worthwhile given how much he drives.
