María Rós returns to Reykjanesbær as welfare director

María Rós Skúladóttir has been appointed director of welfare services in Reykjanesbær, a municipality, mbl.is reported. The municipality said it would announce separately when she takes up the role.

Skúladóttir is a social worker with a master’s degree in leadership and management, specialising in project management, from Bifröst University. She currently works as a management consulting specialist in KPMG’s advisory division, with a focus on welfare services.

Before joining KPMG, she was head of eldercare services in Reykjanesbær and a department head in social services in Suðurnesjabær. The municipality said she has extensive experience in welfare, management and public administration, including responsibility for operations, staffing, budgets and strategy.

She has also led development and change projects aimed at improving service quality, operational efficiency and professional development. Reykjanesbær said her future colleagues looked forward to her joining the team.
