Jokerit and HIFK will meet at Ilmala Arena in Helsinki on Thursday evening for the first time in 12 years, Yle reports. The game starts at 6.30pm.

Both teams have had a slow start to the season and are looking to gain momentum from the emotionally charged derby. By 2pm, about 10,500 tickets had been sold.

Helsinki police said local hockey derbies carry a slightly higher risk of disorder than other league games, but they had no specific threat information ahead of this match. No marches by supporter groups had been reported to police.

Police will monitor public order and safety and maintain a visible presence outside the arena. Responsibility for security inside the event rests with the organisers. Police said they trust the organisers to provide enough stewards and will offer support if needed.

Police said hockey games generally require fewer resources than other events. The match is not considered a highest-risk fixture.
