Kuopio specialist charged with attempting to murder spouse

Yle reports that a 54-year-old specialist physician in Kuopio is facing charges of attempted murder, assault and defamation in a case involving his spouse. He denies committing the crimes.

The alleged assault took place in Kuopio between February 17 and 19, and the attempted murder is alleged to have occurred on Thursday, February 19.

The man was arrested in February and remanded in custody on probable cause. He was released from pre-trial detention in March and is not currently in custody. According to Yle, his licence to practise remains valid and unrestricted.

The case will be heard at the North Savo District Court in January.
