A planned 2.8-kilometre bypass under Kjølin in Klaksvik will cost at least 105 million kroner, but has no allocated funding and is absent from the 2027 budget proposal, KVF reports.

Transport Minister Jacob Vestergaard said in a reply to MP Hermann Ronnason Samuelsen that the government had not prioritised the road. A total of 85,000 kroner was spent on drawing up plans for it in 2008.

The bypass is intended to ease traffic pressure in Klaksvik now that tunnels have been built north of Fjall. Vestergaard said the project had not been abandoned and would be designed once Parliament allocates funding.

Under the 2008 proposal, the bypass would connect at its southern end to the national road through a roundabout near Mækjuvegur, the road to the Norðoyatunnilin tunnel. At the northern end, it would join the road to Ánir through another roundabout. A third roundabout at Helnabrekka would connect the upper part of Klaksvik to the bypass.
