Faroe Islands rank among top 40 sustainable travel destinations

The Faroe Islands rank among the world’s 40 leading destinations on the Global Destination Sustainability Index, KVF reported. In 2026, 85 percent of hotel rooms included in the assessment were sustainability-certified, up from 54 percent in 2025.

Visit Faroe Islands, Tórshavn Municipality and Visit Tórshavn worked together on the islands’ participation in the index and the assessment.

“It is important for tourism and business tourism that we can show we are taking part and point to a good-quality certification,” said Annleyg Lamhauge, who leads business tourism at Visit Faroe Islands.
