Yle teletext marks 45 years in Finland

Yle’s teletext service turns 45 on Wednesday, the Finnish broadcaster reports, marking 45 years since it launched in the country on October 7, 1981.

The BBC was the first broadcaster in the world to introduce teletext, in 1974. The service transformed information delivery and became popular with audiences in Finland. It still provides news, sports results, weather information and more.

Yle is marking the anniversary with a quiz of 10 questions about teletext.
