The Sweden Democrats are reshuffling senior parliamentary roles, with several prominent figures moving to new posts, SVT reports. The changes follow an agreement among the parties on the parliamentary committees for the coming term.

Linda Lindberg, previously the party’s parliamentary group leader, will become chair of the Social Affairs Committee. Matheus Enholm is set to replace her as group leader, with the appointment expected to be approved later on Tuesday.

Tobias Andersson, who chaired the Committee on Industry and Trade during the previous term, will become a member of the Education Committee. He said he had enjoyed his previous role and had received strong praise for his work, but added that new challenges lay ahead. Lindberg said she did not view the move as a demotion, explaining that the party had considered its overall needs and the different profiles of its members.

Jessica Stegrud will become the party’s leading representative on the Social Insurance Committee and will take a more prominent role on migration issues. Ludvig Aspling previously held that responsibility. Stegrud told SVT she was surprised and honoured to be asked.

Veteran Sweden Democrat Oscar Sjöstedt, who has long overseen the party’s budget work on the Finance Committee, will become chair of the Constitutional Committee. He said party leader Jimmie had asked him to take the role, citing his willingness to face conflict when needed. Sjöstedt said he did not see the move as a demotion, but that after 12 years on the Finance Committee, leaving it felt “a little melancholy”.
