Iceland, road construction, traffic

Traffic began using a new section of Arnarnesvegur, a road, between Rjúpnavegur and Breiðholtsbraut on Monday, marking a key step in the project, mbl.is reported. The work is expected to be completed around the turn of November and December.

Construction is continuing on a new roundabout intended to connect the new section of Arnarnesvegur with the existing road. About half the roundabout has been paved, and traffic has been moved onto that section. Work is now under way on the other half, which is expected to open fully around the end of the month.

Crews have been connecting the new road structures to existing roads carrying traffic, causing disruption for drivers.
