Rubio’s visit to Höfði draws heavy police security

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met Icelandic Foreign Minister Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir at Höfði, a meeting venue, on Tuesday morning, with heavily armed police deployed nearby, mbl.is reported.

A large number of Icelandic and American journalists were also at the venue. The meeting was followed by talks between Rubio, Prime Minister Kristrún Frostadóttir and Þorgerður at Safnahúsið, another meeting venue on Hverfisgata.

Rubio was then due to attend a press conference and take questions from Icelandic and international media. mbl.is said it was at the scene and following the events.
