Man in his 50s remanded in drug and money laundering probe

A man in his 50s arrested in connection with a major police investigation into drug offences and money laundering has been remanded in custody until Friday, October 9, mbl.is reported.
He was arrested on arrival in Iceland on Sunday evening after travelling from Portugal. He had been abroad when police carried out extensive operations in the capital region on September 22, arresting 17 people and searching several locations.
Six people were remanded after the September operation, but all have since been released, according to a police statement. The newly arrested man is the seventh person remanded in connection with the investigation. He is also linked to the running of a sandwich shop.
The investigation concerns serious drug offences, including the sale and distribution of drugs, as well as money laundering. Police seized money and drugs during the September operations.
