Fosshótel Rauðarár gives all staff notice before closure
All 26 employees at Fosshótel Rauðarár in Reykjavík have received notice of termination as the hotel prepares to close, mbl.is reports. The hotel is due to shut at the end of November for extensive renovations and reopen under a new brand next year.
Davíð Torfi Ólafsson, chief executive of Íslandshótel, said the hotel at Rauðarárstígur 37 would be extensively refurbished before reopening.
Staff were told about the planned changes at the start of the year, and the closure had been known for some time. The 26 employees received their notices at different points during the year, according to their individual notice periods.
Ólafsson said many had already found jobs at other hotels run by the company, but he did not have an exact figure.
