Piia Vuorela will not seek reappointment as head of the Central Finland wellbeing services county, she confirmed to Yle by email.
The county board is due to open applications for the post at its meeting on Tuesday, October 6. Under the proposal, the one-month application period would begin on October 26. The board is also expected to appoint a group to prepare the recruitment.
Vuorela left the position on September 23. The following week, she told county councillors in a letter that she wanted to withdraw her resignation, saying she had been pressured to leave. Legal experts have said her only way back to the job would be to apply again.
The county aims for its council to select a new chief executive in February 2027. The successful candidate will be appointed for a six-year term and must have a higher university degree and management experience. Lasse Leppä, director of group services, is carrying out the chief executive’s duties for now.
