Traffic fell in three of four subsea tunnels in September

Traffic declined in September compared with August in three of the Faroe Islands’ four subsea tunnels, KVF reported. The Eysturoy Tunnel was the exception, with an average of 6,228 vehicles a day travelling between Eysturoy and Streymoy, up from 5,947 in August.

Between Strendur and Rókin, the average was 1,068 vehicles a day in September, compared with 982 in August.

The Sandoy Tunnel recorded an average of 1,150 vehicles a day, down from 1,257 in August. Traffic in the Vágar Tunnel fell to 3,348 from 3,808, while the Norðoy Tunnel recorded 4,846 vehicles a day, down from 5,349.
