Discussion about Sweden abroad after the parliamentary election has focused largely on claims of election fraud, fuelled by large anti-immigration accounts, SVT reported. The activity amounts to about 100,000 posts, according to Swedish Institute Director General Madeleine Sjöstedt, speaking to Sveriges Radio’s Ekot.
“What we see is influential accounts in a migration-critical environment, with millions of followers, driving this traffic,” Sjöstedt said.
She described discussion of possible election fraud as extensive. It has also included debate over whether migration to Sweden affected the election result.
The Swedish Institute analyses large volumes of media, social media and discussion forums in 53 languages. Sjöstedt said the agency can detect high levels of activity early, which may indicate influence campaigns.
