Eyesland to close its Keflavik Airport store

Saturday 3rd October 2026 on 00:45 in Iceland

Eyesland, Keflavik Airport, retail

Eyesland will close its optical store at Keflavik Airport at the end of October, mbl.is reported. The shop has five permanent positions, and three employees have been offered continued work with the company.

Provision chief executive Kristbjörg Edda Jóhannsdóttir confirmed the closure to mbl.is. She said it reflects changes in shopping habits at the airport: passengers are moving through more quickly and generally have less time to shop, seek professional advice or have their eyesight tested.

Eyesland opened at the airport in 2023, taking over from Optical Studio, which had operated there for many years. After the closure, the chain will have four stores, in Glæsibær, Grandi, Kringlan and Spöng.

Provision and GG Optic, which operated the Augað and ProOptik optical stores, combined their operations under the Provision name in 2024. ProOptik stores in Kringlan and Spöng were renamed Eyesland, while Augað in Kringlan retained its name.
