Two candidates are running for president of the Icelandic Confederation of Labour (ASÍ) this month, as the organisation marks its 110th anniversary. Both say they can help reconcile divisions within the labour movement, mbl.is reports.
The candidates are Arnaldur Grétarsson, who works at ASÍ’s offices, and Georg Páll Skúlason, chairman of the Grafía trade union. They will appear on the programme Spursmál, hosted by Stefán Einar Stefánsson, which returns after a two-week break. The episode is available to everyone and is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
The programme will also feature Brynjar Níelsson, a city councillor and former aide to the justice minister, and Lísa Kristjánsdóttir, a former aide to the prime minister.
They will discuss events in recent weeks, including former Children and Education Minister Guðmundur Ingi Kristinsson’s account of how he was pushed out of office while recovering from major heart surgery at Landspítali hospital.
