KFC plans new restaurant in Kópavogur

KFC is planning a new restaurant in Kópavogur, mbl.is reports. The chain is considering premises at Hæðasmári where Lyfjaval’s drive-through pharmacy has operated for years.

Patrik Atlason of KFC confirmed the plans to Morgunblaðið after posting about them on social media on Thursday. He said the proposal is still being processed and has not been finalised.

A KFC restaurant already operates directly opposite the proposed location, across Reykjanesbraut. The chain has eight restaurants in total, in the capital area, Selfoss and Reykjanesbær.

Later this month, 46 years will have passed since Iceland’s first KFC restaurant opened on Reykjavíkurvegur in Hafnarfjörður.
