Google subsidiary Tuike Finland Oy plans to donate nearly 870,000 euros to the city of Kajaani for the planning and implementation of local energy upgrades, Yle reports.
The funding is intended to support solar power systems for the city’s rental housing company, a water-to-air heat pump and solar power for the energy system at Nakertaja School, and five solar power systems at the city’s sports facilities. The projects are planned for next year.
The technical solutions will be finalised during the planning phase, which is due to begin around the turn of the year. Tuike Finland is planning to start data centre operations in Otanmäki, Kajaani.
The city board will consider the confidential agreement at its meeting on October 6. City manager Terho Savolainen has presented a proposal in favour of it.
