Cholesterol-lowering drugs may reduce the risk of dementia among people with type 2 diabetes, according to research reported by KVF.
The researchers examined more than 132,000 people with type 2 diabetes. Tummas Ternhamar was part of the research team, which investigated whether statins, commonly prescribed for high cholesterol, could affect dementia risk.
Statins are usually used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, including blood clots.
