Fully electric cars made up 50.4 per cent of new passenger car registrations in Finland from January to September, Yle reports, citing the Finnish Information Centre of Automobile Sector.

Nearly 57,000 passenger cars were registered for the first time during the period. In September, fully electric cars accounted for 62 per cent of new registrations, up from 43 per cent a year earlier.

According to the Finnish Central Organisation for Motor Trades and Repairs, Finland had the EU’s second-highest share of fully electric cars among new registrations, behind Denmark.

New passenger car registrations rose by 5.5 per cent compared with the same period last year. Sales of used passenger cars declined both at dealerships and in transactions between private individuals.
