Child seriously assaults boy during confirmation trip

A young boy was seriously assaulted by another child during a church confirmation trip to Vatnaskógur last weekend, mbl.is reported. The venue’s managing director said children should be safe there and that such incidents were unwanted.

The boy was one of 52 children from Háteigskirkja who attended the trip. Children from other churches were also there.

Rev. Helga Soffía Konráðsdóttir, parish priest at Háteigskirkja, described the incident as extremely serious, saying it involved beatings.

“This is an unfortunate matter,” said Ársæll Aðalbergsson, managing director of Vatnaskógur. He said the matter was being handled by the police and the church.
