RÚV board urges Eurovision boycott unless Israel is barred

RÚV’s board wants Iceland to boycott Eurovision in 2027 unless Israel is barred from the contest, mbl.is reported. The board made the decision at a meeting earlier on Wednesday.

Six of the board’s nine members submitted a statement urging the director general to tell the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) that RÚV will not take part in 2027 unless Israel is excluded.

The statement also repeated an earlier call for the EBU to expel Israel from the contest and asked the director general to convey that request.

Eurovision is scheduled to take place in Burgas, Bulgaria, from 12 to 15 May.
