Another child seriously assaults boy on confirmation trip

A boy was seriously assaulted by another child during a confirmation trip at Vatnaskógur, a venue for an annual confirmation course, last weekend, mbl.is reports.

The boy was on the trip with Háteigskirkja church. The church is now working to support the children and their parents, parish priest Helga Soffía Konráðsdóttir said. She described the incident as extremely serious and said the boy had been beaten.

The boy contacted a parent after the assault and went home. The case is being handled by both the police and the church, Helga Soffía said. She is due to meet today with parents of some of the children who took part. A total of 52 children attended with Háteigskirkja.

The trip is part of an annual course at Vatnaskógur attended by churches in the capital region and elsewhere in the country.
