Local man dies in traffic accident near Kolkonpää, Finland

Last Saturday, a local man from Rantasalmi died in a traffic accident, according to police reports. The police received a notification around 6 p.m. regarding a potentially intoxicated driver in the area. Upon locating the suspect, he failed to comply with the stop order and attempted to flee.

The high-speed chase lasted approximately one kilometer. Near Kolkonpää, the passenger vehicle collided with the left front corner of an oncoming truck. According to Crime Commissioner Jouni Väisänen, the driver of the car was a man in his sixties, who was a resident of the area. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the accident. There were no other passengers in the vehicle.

The truck driver was unharmed in the incident.
