Authorities investigate electrical accident at Borgarfjörður substation

The cause of a workplace accident at a Landsnet substation in Vatnshamrar, Borgarfjörður, remains unknown, mbl.is reports. An employee was taken by Coast Guard helicopter to Landspítali hospital in Reykjavík on Monday after receiving an electric shock.

Landsnet communications director Valgeir Örn Ragnarsson said the company would carry out a detailed analysis of what happened, but that no findings were yet available. He said it was too early to discuss the cause of the accident and that the company would not comment on the condition of individual employees.

The Icelandic Administration of Occupational Safety and Health and West Iceland police are investigating. The accident was followed by power outages across parts of Borgarfjörður and Mýrar.
