Kino Konepaja to reopen next week under new owner

Helsinki’s Kino Konepaja cinema will reopen next Monday after a month-long closure, Yle reports. The cinema has a new owner, and all staff have moved to the new company.

Theatre manager Jojo Uimonen will also become a shareholder. Uimonen said customers would notice no changes and welcomed the chance to continue the cinema’s operations.

The cinema in Vallila, Helsinki, closed in early September after its parent company went bankrupt. Uimonen said at the time that the business had become profitable and expressed confidence it would reopen. The start had been difficult because the surrounding Konepaja area was still an unfinished construction site.
