Naantali spa shooting suspect remanded in custody

A 37-year-old man suspected of a shooting at the Naantali spa was remanded in custody on Wednesday, Yle reported. He faces probable-cause suspicion of aggravated assault, endangerment and an aggravated firearms offence.

The man attended the remand hearing at the Southwest Finland District Court by video link from prison. Police say he fired a gun at another man inside the spa on Saturday evening. The victim was taken to hospital.

The suspect left the spa grounds but was later arrested at a private residence in Salo. The case was initially investigated as attempted manslaughter, but the suspected offence has since been changed to aggravated assault.
