Minister seeks week 12 ultrasound offer for pregnant women

Pregnant women in the Faroe Islands should be offered an ultrasound scan in week 12, Health Minister Eyðdis Hartmann Niclasen said in response to a question from MP Hervør Pálsdóttir, according to KVF.

The Hospital Service has been asked to assess what would be required to provide the scans, along with their benefits and possible drawbacks.

The 2027 budget proposal includes funding to strengthen maternity services. Niclasen said she wants the week 12 scan to be offered in the Faroe Islands. All the other Nordic countries offer it, according to the report.
