Reitir freezes rents across all leases for three months

Reitir will freeze rents under all its lease agreements for three months from October, mbl.is reports.

The company said the move is intended to support tenants and help them contribute to lowering prices, thereby increasing economic stability.

“Reitir has a significant connection to the Icelandic economy, as our tenants operate across industries and reach most of the population. By freezing rents, we want to help keep prices down and support tenants who have already taken similar steps,” chief executive Guðni Aðalsteinsson said.

Reitir serves about 500 companies and institutions across Iceland’s economy, including retailers and grocery stores, as well as industrial, service, knowledge-based and hotel businesses. Many businesses operating in Kringlan are also among the company’s tenants.
