ASÍ chairman hopes inflation will ease after petrol-driven rise

Finnbjörn Hermannsson, chairman of ASÍ, says higher petrol prices have temporarily pushed up inflation and hopes the rate will now fall, mbl.is reported.

Inflation over the past 12 months is 5.9%, up from 5.6% the previous month. Hermannsson said the increase was expected because of petrol prices and was in line with forecasts.

He described the impact as a one-off, but said the future path of oil prices remained uncertain.
