Klaksvík elder care faces 21 million kroner deficit in 2027

Klaksvík Municipality’s elder-care services are forecast to run a deficit of 21 million kroner in 2027, double this year’s 10 million kroner shortfall, Kringvarp Føroya (KVF) reports.

The municipality’s financial framework for 2027, approved by the town council last week, shows a surplus. After interest and repayments, 59.5 million kroner will be available for investment.

The council will decide how to allocate the investment funds. Mayor Karl Johansen said elder care was likely to be a priority.

The municipality forecasts that its debt will be 77 million kroner below one tax assessment at the end of this year. If the 2027 budget projections hold, the debt will be 100 million kroner below that level. One tax assessment for Klaksvík Municipality is 421 million kroner this year.
