Heavy rain is expected for a time in southern and southwestern Iceland today, mbl.is reports.

Winds will blow from the east and southeast at 10 to 18 metres per second, with rain and the strongest winds in the south. In the northwest, northeasterly winds of 8 to 15 metres per second are forecast. Winds will turn southeasterly at 8 to 15 metres per second, and the rain will ease this evening before returning overnight.

Tomorrow, easterly winds of 10 to 18 metres per second and rain are expected in many places during the morning. Winds may briefly reach 20 to 23 metres per second in the far south. Conditions are expected to ease, with clearing in many places during the afternoon, before winds strengthen and rain returns tomorrow evening. Temperatures will range from 7 to 15 degrees Celsius, warmest in the north.
