Twelve have suspect status in fatal Stuðlar fire case

Twelve people have suspect status in connection with a fatal fire at Stuðlar, a treatment facility, in late 2024, mbl.is reports. A 17-year-old boy died in the fire.

Police in the capital region have completed their investigation, which lasted two years, and sent the case to the district prosecutor before the weekend.

RÚV reports that those with suspect status in the case, which concerns negligent homicide, include Stuðlar employees and at least one young person who was staying there. The list also includes employees of the government construction and property agency Framkvæmdasýslan – Ríkiseignir and its director, Óskar Jósefsson.
