Appeals court upholds life sentence for Västerås honour killing
Sweden’s Svea Court of Appeal has upheld a life sentence for a 63-year-old man convicted of murdering his wife in Västerås, SVT reports.
The 54-year-old woman was stabbed to death outside her home in the Önsta Gryta neighbourhood late on November 3, 2025. The couple were in the process of divorcing.
The court also found the man guilty of aggravated assault for stabbing his adult son twice in the abdomen. It further convicted him of unlawful threats, harassment and violating a restraining order, offences for which he had been acquitted by the district court.
The appeals court agreed with the district court that honour was one of the motives for the murder. The man denies the crimes.
