Autumn equinox brings rain across Finland

A rainy spell beginning on Wednesday is expected to continue at least until Friday, Yle reports. The autumn equinox also marks a shift towards more autumnal weather, according to Yle meteorologist Henriikka Heikinoja.

A low-pressure system approaching from the southeast will bring rain to southern and eastern Finland. Showers are also expected in northern Lapland. Between the rain areas, a dry and sunny zone will stretch across the country.

Temperatures will reach around 15°C in southern and central Finland. Conditions will be cooler in areas affected by rain and in the north.

On Thursday, another low-pressure system will arrive from the southeast with rain. Rain will spread widely across eastern Finland, and thunderstorms are also possible.

Western Finland will be somewhat drier, although skies will be mostly cloudy and isolated showers may occur. Rain will cool conditions in the south and central parts of the country.

On Friday, the low-pressure system will continue to affect Finland, with showers and drizzle expected across large parts of the country.
